You may find that your question is answered using the frequently asked questions below - simply click the question for the answer. If not then click here and submit your question. We will respond within 24 hours.

Q: Do I need an electricity supply by my oil tank to use OilSecure ? No, OilSecure is totally self contained and uses batteries to power it.

Q: Do I need programme the system before I install it ? No, OilSecure is delivered to you totally programmed, our technicians do all the programming so you don't have to . All you need to do is remove it from the packaging and install.

Q: How long will it take to install ? About 30 minutes.

Q: How long will the siren sound for when the alarm is triggered ? You can select how long the siren sound, the options are 3, 5 or 10 minutes. The alarm is programmed at the factory to sound for 10 minutes. The system will automatically be re-armed again after this time period has elapsed.

Q: What is the output of the wall-mounted siren in decibels ? The technical specification is a minimum of 104 decibels at 1 metre.

Q: Can I use more than one external siren ? Only one unit can be programmed with as the siren. You can however add additional 'dummy' siren boxes and these are available by clicking here.

Q: How is the external siren powered ? The siren uses standard, non-rechargeable, D-type alkaline batteries. It is not solar powered.

Q: How and when will I need to change the batteries in the siren ? Siren batteries should be replaced every 2-3 years. The unit will’ beep’ five times when arming the system to inform you that the battery power is too low. It is required to disable the siren tamper when changing the batteries. Further details can be found in the instruction manual.

Q: Is the external siren box protected from being tampered with ? Yes. The external siren unit will sound if the cover is removed or the unit is pulled off the wall. We do however recommend that the external siren unit is mounted as high as possible.

Q: What is included inb the OilSecure kit ? 1 external Siren Unit including batteries, 1 remote control key fob including battery, 1 OilSecure tank sensor including batteries, all fixtures required to attach the OilSecure to your tank and the external siren unit to your wall, fitting instructions and tank warning label.

Q: How many sensors / remote controls can I use on the OilSecure system ? You can programme a maximum of 20. For each item programmed into the system this uses up one 'slot'. The system comes pre-programmed with a remote control and OilSecure sensor, this therefore uses up 2 slots. You can therefore programme an additional 18 remote controls, OilSecure sensors or other type of detector into the system.

Q: How far can the sensor be away from the external siren unit ? A maximum of 30 metres. This may be less depending on what obstacles are in the way such as walls, shrubbery, trees etc. We recommend that you test the system in the chosen location before fixing.

Q: My neighbour has an OilSecure system, could they be able to disarm my system? No, only the devices you have ‘learned’ in would be recognised by your system. Other accessories not programmed in will not interfere with the operation of your alarm.

Q. When I test my system before installing I cannot get the alarm to activate ? Ensure that the primary and secondary sensor are both laid on a flat and level surface with the surface that has the Yale logo facing downwards. This ensures that the sensor is in the correct position for testing.
